Alejandro Osses

Alejandro was born in 1985 in Santiago, Chile. He obtained the professional degree of civil engineer in sound and acoustics at Technological University of Chile INACAP (former Vicente Pérez Rosales). He then worked as a project engineer and project manager at the consultancy companies Acustical (2010-2012) and Control Acústico (2011-2012), respectively. In 2012 he moved to Belgium, where he completed a predoctoral programme in biomedical sciences at the University of Leuven (KU Leuven). The topic of his research topic was concerned with real-time audio signal processing for cochlear implants. Between 2014 and 2018 Alejandro was enrolled as a Ph.D. candidate at Eindhoven University of Technology, the Netherlands. His project was titled "Prediction of perceptual similarity based on time-domain models of auditory perception" under the supervision of prof. Armin Kohlrausch. Since October 2018 Alejandro joined the Hearing Techonology group @ WAVES of our university, where he mainly focuses on auditory modelling of hearing impairment with an emphasis in psychoacoustics. Since January 2020 he is part of the development team of the Auditory Modelling Toolbox.
