Karlo Filipan is a PhD student at WAVES group in Ghent University under the supervision of Prof. Dick Botteldooren and Prof. Bert De Coensel.
During his PhD, he completed the ITN "Urban sound planner" program as an early stage researcher in the EU FP7 project SONORUS in 2016. He received his BSc and MSc in Electrical Engineering and Information Technology in 2010 and 2012, both from Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing, University of Zagreb, Croatia. He also received a Master of Music in cello playing from Music Academy, University of Zagreb in 2011.
Within his PhD topic he investigates the influence of human auditory attention in the analysis and design of urban soundscapes. His research interests include computational modeling, signal processing, machine listening, psychoacoustics and soundscape.
