Brecht De Beelde
dr. ir. Brecht De Beelde received a M.Sc degree in Electrical Engineering from Ghent University (Belgium) in 2013. He started his career as an embedded SW engineer at the Low-Power Wireless Division of Qorvo, Inc where he worked on BLE and ZigBee communication controllers. He joined the WAVES research group of the Department of Information Technology (INTEC) of Ghent University in June 2018, where he obtained his PhD in November 2022. He currently works as RF system engineer at NXP Semiconductors.
His research interests are channel modeling and wireless network planning in industrial environments and at mmWave and sub-Terahertz frequencies.
His research has led to thirteen first-authored A1 publications in international peer-reviewed journals and eight P1 contributions at international conferences.
He received one international scientific award as first author (first prize in the student paper competition at the URSI Atlantic/Asia-Pacific Radio Science Meeting).
He presented twice at the URSI Benelux forum (2019, Brussels and 2022, Eindhoven) and twice at the Research Symposium of Ghent University's Faculty of Engineering and Architecture.
He also presented at the Telecom Infra Project summit (2019, Amsterdam).
As a co-author, contributions were made to three A1 publications and one P1 publication.
He was involved in three IMEC icon projects (IoT Chef, Internet of Shipping, MM-WAVES), two IMEC AAA projects (better-than-wired, D-band radio channel modeling), one international project (telecom infra project), two European COST actions (IRACON, INTERACT), and one national project (EOS Muse-winet).
He is a member of the NextG channel modeling alliance and a reviewer for IEEE Antennas and Wireless Propagation Letters, IEEE Transactions on Antennas and Propagation, IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology, IEEE Wireless Communication Letters, IEEE Open Journal of Antennas and Propagation, Radio Science, and Nature Scientific Reports.
